Next Level Solutions (NLS) is focused on serving the Property and Casualty insurance market with custom and innovative technology solutions for the Insurtech industry.
NLS recently doubled down on its commitment to investing in the future of the local tech community with participation in two successful events that demonstrated the company's core value of doing good work for the communities that it serves.
Early talent in the workforce matters! According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics GenZ will make up a third of the workforce by the end of the decade. A recent report done by Handshake suggests that over the next 10 years, one in five baby boomers will retire, which will leave a significant gap in the market.
At NLS, we recognize this – and we’re actively doing something about it. We’re creating partnerships and finding new ways to engage early talent, well… early. We recently partnered with Southwest Baptist University to offer Computer Science courses to local high-school students, at an affordable rate by covering half the cost of their enrollment fees. Through this partnership, students can receive college credit towards a degree in Computer Science (CS) and take courses in Psychology and CS, in-person at the SBU campus.
As a part of that program, students of the SBU Academy visited NLS' Springfield office on Monday, March 27, 2023. The outing was an opportunity for the students to meet with NLS team members and gain valuable insights, while getting real-world exposure to their chosen career paths. The event was a smashing success comprised of a tour of the local office, and a personalized demo from Developer, Kelli Thieman. She showed off some of the software that the team uses, while simultaneously providing a look into what a Developer works on every day. Students learned about all things NLS, including the rundown of the company’s story and what kind of positions are available (with an additional focus on what growth looks like in each of those areas).
Professor Tim DeClue of SBU promptly sent a follow up note after the event, boasting that the students, “...could not stop talking about how impactful the visit was” and that “NLS rocks!”
NLS continued its community engagement efforts with its participation in the Girls in Tech Conference, held in the IDEA Loft at the eFactory in Springfield, MO, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. This event was hosted by students in the GO CAPS (Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies) program. The conference brought together a large group of local, female students to learn about technology and its impact on society. A team of six women from NLS sat on a panel and shared their experiences and insights into the technology industry. The panel discussion was a hit, and the attendees left with a better understanding of the opportunities available to them within the technology sector.
"Community engagement is an essential part of our corporate culture, and we are proud to have been involved with both events," said Haley Armstrong, Recruiting Manager at NLS. "We are committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve, and we believe that investing in education is the best way to achieve this goal. The SBU Academy and the Girls in Tech Conference align with our values and mission, and we are honored to be part of them."
Following NLS' commitment to community engagement and our other core values, the Girls in Tech Conference provided us with the opportunity to further our commitment to building a more diverse future talent pool in the tech space. We believe that diversity and inclusion are critical for innovation and success in the insurtech industry. As such, we are committed to encouraging more young women to pursue careers in technology and providing them with the tools and resources necessary to succeed. By participating in the Girls in Tech Conference, NLS aims to inspire young women to explore and consider the technology field as a career path. We are proud to have been part of this initiative and will continue to support events and programs that promote diversity and inclusion in the tech space.
We want the community to know, you can find a great job in Springfield and pursue a career as a woman in technology. You don’t have to go to a big metropolitan area like New York or San Francisco. You can have a great career right here in Missouri.
